ABOUT JAKE ROBINSON

Jake Robinson is an up and coming cinematographer with over 4 years of experience in the film industry. Before graduating from the Film Production course at the University of Gloucestershire, Jake attended Andover College where he worked on the indie horror film ‘Scrawl’ directed by Peter Hearn and starring Daisy Ridley (Star Wars: The Force Awakens). During production he undertook a variety of roles, most prominently as an additional cinematographer during the reshoots.

This kick-started his career as an aspiring cinematographer. Since then, Jake has worked across a variety of areas, including narrative-based films, both short and feature length, music videos and promotional material.
Formerly training to become an actor, Jake decided to switch to behind the camera and over time found his passion to create breath-taking cinematic imagery. His primary goal is to communicate the story through his framing and aims to use as much natural lighting whenever possible. Recently he has uncovered a greater understanding of colour grading to help convey mood, tone and emotion in his work.

Whilst he prefers static framing, he has used fluid movements on camera through the use of jibs and dolly tracks. On occasion he also is comfortable to go freehand with the camera.
Jake has experience with a variety of cameras, primarily Canon 5D, C100 and C300.
As a recent graduate, Jake is very keen to continue working around the camera, having worked as a camera operator, 1st Assistant Camera and Clapper loader on a variety of projects.
